Open Any Finder Folder in VS Code with One Keystroke (Automator Quick Action)

Dragging folders gets old fast When you're browsing a project folder in Finder and think "I want this open in VS Code" β€” what do you do? For a long time, I would launch VS Code first and then drag the folder onto the Dock icon or the window. Or open a terminal, cd into the folder, and run code . . Either way it's only a few seconds, but repeated many times a day it adds up. It feels especially tedious when you just want to peek at the contents. With macOS's built-in Automator, you c...

Your AI-Built Portfolio Has a Problem: You Still Have to Explain It

The portfolio has animations. The repository has a README. The deployment works. Then someone asks: β€œWhich decision in this project was yours?” β€œI built it with React” does not answer that question. Neither does a list of tools or a paragraph about a seamless user experience. A polished site can help people inspect your work. It cannot supply the reasoning behind work you have not thought through. Try this before adding another project Open one project you actually under...

I built an app where you can't fail. You just have to do nothing. πŸ¦₯

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 3: Slow and Steady . What I Built Be honest with yourself for a second. Can you actually remember the last time you sat back in your chair and did nothing ? I don't mean watching a video while eating lunch. I don't mean listening to a podcast on a walk, or scrolling through your phone on the couch. I mean genuinely sitting back, looking at the ceiling or out a window, with no screen in your hand and no...

From Broken Ingress to Healthy ALB: An EKS and Splunk Hands-On Lab

You’ll take an EKS Ingress with an empty ADDRESS and turn it into a working internet-facing ALB, then prove it with curl, healthy targets, controller reconciliation logs, and Splunk metrics. This is the kind of failure I see in real clusters: the Kubernetes YAML can look right while IAM, Pod Identity, subnet tags, and load balancer reconciliation decide whether traffic ever reaches a pod. In this lab, the before-state is one specific case: the alb Ingress exists before the AWS Load Balancer...

A Runnable Project Needs Both Instructions and Identity

A Runnable Project Needs Both Instructions and Identity A folder is not automatically an agent project. It may contain code, notes, and a useful prompt, but an agent runtime still needs two answers before it can treat that folder as durable work: what guidance applies here, and which project is this? APC and APX make those answers explicit with two small files: AGENTS.md holds shared instructions: conventions, constraints, commands, and project-specific context. .apc/project...

PHP2Shell: Two Critical PHP RCE Flaws Just Forced the Web to Patch Fast

CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619 are two critical vulnerabilities in the PHP core runtime. Both can allow an unauthenticated attacker to achieve remote code execution (RCE), and both received a CVSS v4.0 severity score of 9.2 / 10 . If you run PHP in production whether with Laravel, Symfony, WordPress, Magento, TYPO3, Drupal, or a custom application, this is not a framework problem you can ignore. It is a runtime problem. TL;DR Two critical PHP vulnerabilities were d...

Garmin Revamps and Opens Up Connect Developer API Program

Not exactly related to programming, but as a Garmin user I've always wanted an API for personal access so I can make my own stuff on top of it. I also really like the fact that they have a tier specifically targeting personal use. My prediction and fear is that, with AI allowing people to code their own apps, companies will become more jealous of the data they collect (even though it's not theirs, of course). So seeing Garmin going in the opposite direction makes me happy. Direct link ...

Show HN: Return Ledger free portfolio TWR/XIRR tracker with AI PDF import

Hi HN, I made a simple single-page tool that computes portfolios return / performance (TWR and XIRR), gross and net of fees and tax. It requires logging all transactions. It's client-side, with no accounts, and data lives in the browser localStorage. It started as a personal tool . I wanted a way to understand what was the return of my portfolio and of a tenanted rental property (XIRR). The experimental part is an import: you upload a broker's trade notice PDF and an LLM proposes one ledger row,...
