Ask HN: How do you decide to cut scope when AI makes it so easy to add?

I've been having this conversation with my co-founder for months. It's so easy to add incremental features nowadays, and most seem useful. There's nothing obviously wrong with them. On top of that, people are using the software, and they appreciate how complete it is. The UX is cluttered, but 99% of interactions don't use it, so who cares. How do you decide to cut scope when in the current setup there's nothing to lose? Am I simply to old school? For context, this is the project: https://github....

Show HN: Maali – Privacy-first personal finance app with a local AI analyst

That led me to build Maali ( https://maali.app ) over the past year. It is currently a Mac and Windows app that lets you track spending, budgets, recurring bills, income, net worth, and more. It stores all of your data on your computer. You can bring your data in by either manually importing bank statement file...

What is still hard to become good at as AI makes coding easier?

Since LLMs came, how I build software changed for so many reasons. Since then, I’ve spent most of my time deciding what I want to build, how I want to build it, how I want to give the context, checking the result, seeing if there is an error, and paving the way for the LLM to do the right thing. And the difficult part, which is writing code and getting everything right, is handled by the LLM surprisingly well, from my work and the people around me and people who I look up to on the internet. Unt...
