My latest app made the front page on Hacker News today!

My puzzle site ( https://PuzzleLair.com ) made the front page on Hacker News today (still there as I type this)! Google Analytics showed up to 500 real time users every half hour for a few hours. I was worried that my little VPS that's running 8 other apps would tank, but it held up. I know it's not *that* much traffic, but it's more than any of my little apps has had thus far. We'll see if any of the new accounts turns into any actual revenue. Got some good feedback from the comments as well. A...

You code as usual. A cat logs your development (my new desktop pet)

My hobby project is turning now into a desktop app that runs locally on your machine. mydev.cat is a cute cat that lives in your desktop, taking notes of your development, writing reports, and making shareable content as you work normally! Again, I made this because I needed it for my daily development work to make reports of any given day/year, but nowadays it's just so fun to me to design products and think on the ways it can become valuable for other people. Download here: mydev.cat ...

I made a tool for mattress size comparison

I got the idea while looking for a new mattress and was having trouble finding a good way to compare the different sizes. I figured others also had a similar problem so I decided to make a tool to fix the issue. You can easily pick a standard bed size like twin or queen or add a custom size. Then the diagram will automatically show the size comparison between the mattresses. It was a fun weekend project, and I would love any feedback on what to add or fix. Here is the link if you want to...

I've been building a platform for interconnected knowledge

I've spent years collecting ideas across Reddit, X, forums, notes, bookmarks, and documents. The problem was always the same: everything became fragmented . A note might reference a concept from a Reddit post, which referenced a thread on X, which referenced an article somewhere else. I wanted a place where knowledge itself was the primary object, and where ideas could connect directly to other ideas. So I started building Risorgi (risorgi.com) Some challenges I've run into: Exp...

What to Do When Reflection Won't Fix Your AI Agent's Output

Many AI Agent tutorials propose the same fix for bad output: reflection. Your agent generates garbage JSON? Just add another LLM call to "review" it. The second call critiques the first, the first tri

I built a web app that turns books into a board game so I'd actually finish them

I have a book-buying problem and a book-finishing problem. The second one is worse. So I built BookQuest: pick a book, and it becomes a board-game journey. Each "level" is a short lesson + a quick quiz. You only advance by passing — which forces active recall, which is the whole reason it sticks. Points, streaks, badges, leaderboard on top. Stack: Next.js + Supabase + Vercel. Server-side grading so scores can't be faked. Books are content-as-data, so adding one is just rows in a DB...

Multi-agent harness?

Hi there! I'm the creator of OpenBot. I kept seeing “agent” tools that were really just model switchers or MCP tool sprawl. I wanted something different: agents that work together. OpenBot is a local sidekick. You give it a complex goal → it delegates to specialist agents (researcher, coder, etc.) → they collaborate over a shared event bus until the job is done. https://www.getopenbot.com/ Would love feedback — does the “sidekick + specialists” model resonate, or is single-agent still...

Would you use a Duolingo-style study app for your own notes?

I'm working on an idea and want honest feedback, not trying to sell anything. The idea: you upload class notes, PDFs, or lecture material, and the app gives you a daily study loop: - what to review today - weak spots to practice - quick memory checks - progress/streaks so studying feels less overwhelming Kind of like a daily learning coach, but for your actual school material. Questions: Would this solve a real problem for you? What do you currently use: Anki, Quizlet, Not...

I built SVGotchi: an SVG-native local AI companion that runs Transformers.js + ONNX entirely in the browser

I built SVGotchi, an SVG-native local AI companion where the opened SVG document is the app surface. There is no Python backend, no hosted inference API, and no normal HTML app shell. Transformers.js loads a local ONNX emotion model in the browser, then TypeScript maps sanitized labels and scores into deterministic SVG pose transitions. I’m looking for feedback on the architecture, README positioning, and whether the SVG-native runtime boundary makes sense as a reusable pattern for small local...

We just built a better gym workout tracking app - completely free and offline first

Hey everyone! 👋 My two friends and I were quite frustrated with the current state of workout tracking apps. They make you pay for basic features Are cluttered with ads Collect and sell your data Distract you from your workout with unnecessary social feeds Filled with useless AI (slop) features So as the 3 software engineers x "gymbros" we are, we took matters into our own hands and decided to build Nouta. No features behind paywalls No Ads/Tracking/etc. All th...

How do you make demo videos for your products?

Previously I was doing it by recording my screen with obs or slack and then editing the video to remove some hiccups. But that process is extremely annoying. I googled a little bit and found several services that supposedly do that, with or without AI, but after an evening of trying I was not able to get anything I like with them. How do you approach this? What are your favorite solutions?

Looking for feedback on my Product Hunt launch video (first project, 200 users so far)

Hey everyone! 👋 I’ve been working on QueryCase , a gamified SQL learning platform where users learn SQL by solving interactive detective-style investigations and realistic business scenarios rather than following traditional tutorials. The platform has been live for just over a week and has already reached 200 users, which has been exciting (and slightly terrifying!) as it’s my first ever project. I’m planning a Product Hunt launch next week and have put together a short launch video. I’d...

Turned my everyday tool into a product

Me being a social media marketing professional one of my go to approaches for campaigns is to understand what my competition is doing and copy their big hit campaigns. At the start I was doing this manually but this was taking so much of my time. Later with the help of claude I built a tool for me to use. Seeing the impact this tool had on the Facebook pages that I manage, thought of making it a product. After months of work, I have now launched swordai.lk a tool that will give you com...

Cwasy: My parents got competitive over this stupid game.

I realized I barely remember anything anymore. Directions, phone numbers, birthdays. Even tiny things we used to remember without thinking. That got me wondering: are we actually getting worse at remembering stuff? So I built a small browser game to test it. You get a few seconds to study something. Then it disappears, and you have to recreate it purely from memory. No hints, no autocomplete. Just you versus your brain. It's surprisingly hard the first time. Then something interesting ha...

I built an Android app where you can chat with people on the same battery percentage

Hey everyone, I recently launched a small Android app called Mavora, built around a strange but simple idea: your phone battery percentage can become a temporary social signal. If your phone is at 42%, the app can show other anonymous users who are also around the same battery level. You can send them a signal request, and if they accept, a private anonymous chat opens. The idea is not to make another dating app or location-based social app. I wanted it to feel more like ambient anonymous ...

I made an app that automatically lowers your music when game dialogue plays, then brings it back, and lets you control it from your controller

been building this solo for the last few weeks. it's called Segue. the idea: your music should react to your game instead of you alt-tabbing to manage it. it auto-lowers your music when game dialogue plays (real speech detection, not a timer), then brings it back. it does the same for Discord, ducking your music when your friends talk so you can talk without the music being in the way. you can also control everything from your controller, swipe the DualSense touchpad for volume, swipe to ski...

I built ChromiumFish: Chrome + native AI agent for Playwright

Hey r/SideProject, I built ChromiumFish , a fingerprint-hardened Chrome with drop-in Playwright support for Python and Node, and built-in AI Agent support at the C++ level. I know most of you are gonna smell the chromium, but rest assured, this fork tries its best to pretend like a Chrome running on a Windows machine. The reason I built this is that when you are running your browser on a Linux machine, there are lots of telltale signs that it's a Chrome running on Linux. That's what I tri...
