Management is forcing us to use AI

I’m paraphrasing; «You use AI or you’re not working here. Humans are not perfect coders nor are AIs. So why should you be allowed to code without AI. It’s a netloss for us. You either use it or you start looking for a different job.» Can’t believe Im being forced to make myself dumber. I really dont want to spend even more hours in front of my laptop, but looks like I have to because this whole industry is now dependent on AI. This is the US. Using AI to develop software while being Anti-AI

Hey yall, so I've kinda started understanding why people tend to hate on AI, I found myself in a situation where I would stop thinking myself, I stopped evaluating whether my issue could be fixed by just using my damn brain. So I just wanted to stop for a few months, just see what will happen. Tho my biggest issue now: I am a Full-Stack Dev and of course I could again write my code 100% myself, tho using Tools like Claude for writing pipelines tests or even features you are to lazy to do yoursel...

Show HN: FAB – A benchmark for AI agents doing financial due diligence

The world economy around us depends on complex financial work. How well can AI do it? We(a team of ex-EY employees) built FAB - Finance Agents Benchmark, testing AI Agents on the work behind financial due diligence. Agents can find the relevant facts, but still struggle to carry them through to a complete, reliable analysis. We’ll keep expanding FAB to more companies and testing more models. Building and running this benchmark isn’t cheap, so we’re scaling it in stages. The benchmark is public. ...

Feeding the OLAP beast: ClickHouse massive bulk ingestion steps.

Feeding the OLAP beast: ClickHouse massive bulk ingestion steps. ClickHouse is a columnar beast, but treating it like MySQL by inserting row-by-row will bring your cluster to its knees. ClickHouseBulkStep packages optimal bulk buffering into a reusable step. Here is how you use ClickHouseBulkStep & OLAP Pipelines in a production pipeline with wpipe-steps : from wpipe import Pipeline from wpipe_steps.database import ClickHouseBulkStep pipeline = Pipelin...

AI Made Me Write Less Code — and Think More About Engineering

What I learned building and deploying a full-stack application with AI-assisted development, from the first specification to HTTPS on a GCP VM. I had been tracking my workouts in Google Sheets for quite some time. It worked. But eventually I started thinking: why am I still maintaining a spreadsheet for something this simple? I had wanted to build a small workout tracker for a while, but there was one thing holding me back: frontend development isn't my strongest area . So I d...

Hyper-efficient Cardinality Estimation: Redis HyperLogLog in Production with wredis

Hyper-efficient Cardinality Estimation: Redis HyperLogLog in Production with wredis Counting unique elements across millions of daily active users, IP addresses, or IoT telemetry events in a traditional relational database or standard Redis Set quickly consumes gigabytes of memory. A Redis Set storing 100 million UUIDs requires several gigabytes of RAM. In contrast, Redis HyperLogLog (HLL) uses a probabilistic counting algorithm that bounds memory consumption to a constant ~12 KB per...
