Apple’s HomeView has an app problem

It's been a couple of days since Apple's big smart home announcement, and we have some more information - and a bunch of new questions - about the Apple HomeView. The device has plenty of computing oomph, is always connected to power, and looks like a perfect place to run a bunch of apps. And […]

Inflation came back. The market yawned.

September CPI: 3.7% year over year, 0.6% in a single month. Gasoline did most of the damage, up 9.1% in September and 34% on the year. Then PPI followed: up 1.3% on the month, 6.3% on the year, the hottest wholesale print since March 2022. The pipeline is full, and it points one direction. This is now 67 straight months of US inflation above the Fed's 2% target. The last sub-2% reading was in 2021. A dollar kept under the mattress for those five years buys about 22% less today. That is the qu...

57 Seconds, 1,368 Frames, and the Difference Between Generating and Directing

These articles come from lessons learned while building Eterna Clarity and the operating system I use to run it. Making the launch commercial for Xyterna meant balancing two different jobs. I wanted people to understand what the product actually does, but I also wanted to make something they would enjoy watching. In less than a minute, too much explanation could turn it into a tutorial. Too many impressive shots, and the product could get lost in its own commercial. I had AI-assisted visu...

Your AI Assistant Ships UI 10x Faster — Add Visual Regression to GitHub Actions in 5 Minutes

The problem: your agent ships UI faster than you can review it AI coding assistants changed the math of frontend work. A landing page tweak that used to take an afternoon now takes a prompt. But every UI change your agent ships carries the same five visual bugs: layout shifts, truncated text, overlapping elements, broken responsive breakpoints, theme regressions. The CSS compiles. It looks fine on localhost. Then staging shows the damage. Agent skills like ProofShot and pursr gave your ag...

How to track brand mentions in Perplexity

To track mentions in Perplexity, write a fixed set of the questions your buyers ask, run each one several times, and log two things per run: whether your brand is named in the answer, and which source URLs Perplexity cites. Repeat weekly. That is the whole method. The rest of this guide is how to do it without fooling yourself. If you would rather not do it by hand, a Perplexity visibility tracker runs the same process on a schedule. Why Perplexity is the easiest engine to audit...

Tripo AI Robotic Arm Review 2026: 55 Credits, Same Four Holes

Disclosure: this is an independent hands-on test. Both tools were run on ordinary customer accounts; neither company supplied review access or saw this piece before publication. My verdict in 60 seconds — Tripo 64/100, SupaVoxel 89/100 One photograph of a small white desktop robotic arm — two flat link plates with cut-out windows, and a three-strand servo cable running from base to wrist — put once through Tripo and once through SupaVoxel at stock defaults, then both GLB files torn ap...

Side_Hustle

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 2: Side Hustle What I Built I built ListingLift AI , a web-based product listing assistant designed for small business owners, freelancers, and online sellers who want to spend less time writing product descriptions. Selling a product online involves more than just uploading a photo. Sellers often need to write a clear title, explain the product's features, identify their target audience, and choose r...

GPT-6.1 Sol vs GPT-6 Luna: Pick by Judgment or Volume

OpenAI's model lineup changed twice in September 2026, and the result confuses even regular users. Here's the simple version: pick Sol when judgment matters, pick Luna when volume matters. The short answer GPT-6.1 Sol is the near-flagship workhorse: complex coding, multi-step agents, documents, computer use, research — at one-fifth of Astra's API price. GPT-6 Luna is the efficiency model: classification, extraction, routing, summaries, bulk transforms — at one-twentieth of...

Tripo 3D Print Review 2026: 183 Boundary Edges in One Candle Holder

Disclosure: this is an independent hands-on test. Both tools were run on ordinary customer accounts; neither company supplied review access or saw this piece before publication. My verdict in 60 seconds — Tripo 60/100, SupaVoxel 90/100 I gave one Halloween reference image — a swirling candle holder with ghost faces bored into it — to Tripo and to SupaVoxel on the same night, exported GLB from both with default settings, and then measured both files offline the way a print shop measure...

Let an agent drive the Chrome you are already logged into

Browser tools that agents use start from an empty profile. The page you wanted to update shows a login screen, while the Chrome window where you are already signed in sits right there, unused. Chrome locks that profile folder, and it will not open a debugging port on its default data directory. browser-automate is a skill for Claude Code and Cursor that gets around both limits. It copies one Chrome profile's cookies and preferences into a temporary folder, launches a second Chrome on that c...

What makes a good mascot for a small software project

Disclosure: I build the Sadana mascot maker mentioned here. A mascot can give a small software project a face people remember. It does not need to be a polished brand system. Here are some practical tips. Keep the shape simple If you can't sketch it in a few seconds, it is probably too complicated. A circle, a blob or a square with two eyes is enough. Simple shapes stay readable as a tiny favicon, a GitHub avatar or a chat sticker. Pick one personality trait De...

Tripo 3D Print Review 2026: Flipped Normals on a 2M-Face Mesh

Disclosure: this is an independent hands-on test. Both tools were run on ordinary customer accounts; neither company supplied review access or saw this piece before publication. My verdict in 60 seconds — Tripo 60/100, SupaVoxel 90/100 I fed one photo of a minimalist cantilever watch stand into Tripo and into SupaVoxel , took both GLB files offline, welded the vertices by position and measured them with the same script. Tripo charged 55 credits and handed back a 1,995,520-triangle mesh...

Debugging Password Reset Email Retries Causing Duplicate Links in 2026 (Audit-First)

A gaming account recovery flow has one constraint that changes the tooling decision: support needs evidence for every attempted delivery, including a bounced or suppressed recipient, before a short-lived credential expires. TL;DR: keep one active reset token per user and request window, check suppression before each attempt, reuse the same idempotency key on transport retries, and poll delivery events for the audit trail. I would choose a stable capability contract over a vendor-specific mail ...

Mull: note-taking with a language server / vscode extension

I've been writing notes as plain text files since forever, and it occurred to me that note-taking could benefit from the typical features that a language server provides: clickable links, autocomplete, hover previews, formatting, diagnostics, refactoring, etc. So I built a little language server and a vscode extension which adds syntax highlighting. Note-taking now feels more like writing code, and I get to use my favorite vscode keybindings (vim). Feedback is welcome! Comments
