Hey HN, I built https://karioai.com , a web editor for creating motion graphics videos, whilst letting you perfect tiny details like easing. My thesis is that since design is an art, collaborating with the AI on the same canvas instead of outsourcing the entire design to it provides a great balance between creativity and speed. I created this sample video (inspired by Linear) in Kario to explain how it works:

I use to have a strong belief that it was all hype but the Hugging Face Attack made me reconsider all my priors. Also given that these companies are trying to go public doing this for hype would be a borderline insane braindead move. The backlash it's already generating is going to be like nothing the industry has seen before. Not a great move if you want to go public.

Microsoft is publishing a 37-page "humanist AI code of conduct" today, amid growing safety concerns over AI model progress. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called for a coordinated slow down of AI development over the weekend, after researchers warned recently that AI model progress could outpace our ability to safely deploy increasingly complex systems and verify […]
It makes sense that Musk is a long film. The latest from Alex Gibney, who has previously directed documentaries about Theranos and Steve Jobs, is an impressively thorough retelling of the story of Elon Musk, from his early days as a dot-com millionaire to "taking a wood chipper" to vital US government departments. In order […]
Today, I’m joined by comedian, podcast host, and YouTuber Adam Conover. Adam is a familiar face to anyone who’s spent time on the internet. He got his start, like so many successful comedy writers, at CollegeHumor back in the day. That was before transitioning into cable TV with Adam Ruins Everything, then onto Netflix, and […]
Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro will release this Friday, September 18th, and it’s tough to see it as just a coincidence that Google’s latest Pixel phones are discounted. The Pixel 11 Pro carries the biggest discount, with its fog, olive, and obsidian color schemes selling for around $1,007 at Amazon, almost negating this year’s $100 price […]
No, that's not a Tesla Cybercab. That's Volkswagen's Mission Efficiency, the world's slipperiest electric vehicle. The near-production 2+2 seat electric coupe prototype was built on VW's MEB+ platform, incorporating front-wheel drive components from the upcoming ID. Polo and ID. Cross models. True to its name, the mission of Mission Efficiency is to break records. With […]
The last day to apply for an exhibit table at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 on Sept 18. Just 5 days left. Secure your spot on the Expo Hall floor and put your business in front of 10,000+ founders, investors, and tech leaders.
Not long ago, bringing an extinct species back to life belonged to science fiction. Today, it’s the mission of a billion-dollar startup. Advances in artificial intelligence, genetics, and computational biology are changing what’s possible in conservation research, raising questions that extend far beyond the laboratory. If technology can help revive extinct species, should it? And […]
If you're building an AI company, the question isn't whether foundation models will continue to evolve. It's whether your company will continue creating value as they do. The greatest risk isn't building a weak product — it's building a strong one that eventually becomes someone else's feature. You don’t want to miss this interactive session on the Builders Stage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026. Register before Sept 25 to save up to $200.
A request arrives at your server for /api/vehicles/1' OR '1'='1 . Before a single line of your application code runs, something in front of it reads that string, recognises the shape of a SQL injection attempt, and answers 403.
That something is a web application firewall, and last month I spent a weekend trying to work out whether mine was actually earning its place.
First, what the thing actually is
It is software. Twenty years ago you might have racked a physical appliance...
I kept seeing early teams put off the founders' agreement until there was already a fight.
Lawyers are expensive when equity is still fluid. Templates are a wall of legalese. Most tools want an account.
So I built FounderAgreement.com.
What it does
Guided questions on equity, roles, vesting, IP, and decision-making. Then a PDF download. Usually 5–10 minutes. Mobile and desktop.

I'm Ramiro Quintana, a Software Engineer & Full Stack Developer. I built Calculadora SIU CrediUPE to solve a small but repetitive problem I encountered while using SIU Guaraní at Universidad Provincial de Ezeiza (UPE).
When checking my study plan, I wanted an easier way to keep track of how many free credits I had accumulated. The information was already available in the system, but calculating and filtering it manually was unnecessary work.
So I decided to automate it.

A long working day produced three lessons. Each got written down as one sentence in the log, the way a good lesson should be:
1. Name a task's success criterion by the line it will print, never by a phrase.
2. Regenerate the derived index before mirroring the tree, not after.
3. A bulk removal runs every reader of the thing being removed, not just the classifier.
Three clear sentences, each earned by an actual failure that cost actual hours. All three were violated again before...
