Show HN: OpenWand – A mission to remove chat interface from working with AI

Hi everyone, I'm working on OpenWand, an "LLM chat interface" that is optimized for AI co-work. Its function is to truly integrate AI into your workflow, so no more switching windows, no more copying context, less prompt typing. You can focus on working, not prompting. You can think of it as a free Chatgpt (the interface/frontend) alternative for your everyday work. I would be very grateful for any help, testing, feedback and/or bug reports. What's shown here is just my current implementation. B...

Ask HN: Should we disclose AI use in our work?

Tim O'Reilly just published an essay arguing that AI is a medium, like photography or painting. His key line: "I judge the output, not the means used to produce it." He describes his own process: a 300-word prompt becomes a 660-word draft, which he rewrites into a 3,000-word essay. Maybe 40-50 words are Claude's. He's proud of how he uses AI. He says we're still in the "filmed stage plays" era of AI writing, and the masters will emerge. This resonates with me. I'm an engineer, not a writer. Over...

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 FE pairs last year’s hardware with last month’s software

The Fan Edition phones are rarely Samsung's most exciting launches of the year, but the new Galaxy S26 FE feels especially familiar. Hardware-wise, little has changed since the S25 FE launched 12 months ago, and the upgrades have mostly come in the form of software tricks which themselves were already seen on this year's previous […]

Sleep score court is in session

Your honor, We all know that the woman who sits before you is tired. Just look at the circles under her eyes. The novelty Pride and Prejudice T-shirt and Muji sweatpants that pass for pajamas. The unkempt, banana clip hairstyle that says "I really did wake up like this." But she's doing her best. And […]

OpenAI’s executive exodus has one big winner

Today on Decoder, I’m talking to Verge senior AI reporter Hayden Field about some pure Decoder bait: the seemingly-endless org chart changes at OpenAI, and how all of them seem to consolidate power under cofounder Greg Brockman, the company’s president. While Sam Altman is the CEO and still OpenAI’s most public face, Brockman has amassed […]

If Meta’s going down, it’s taking TikTok and YouTube with it

Meta might be on the hook for $17.1 billion and a host of app changes under a new kids safety settlement, but it's already spinning the deal to its advantage. After years of being the national punching bag for social media harms, Meta has reached a settlement with 47 US states and several districts and […]

Americans are cheering for vigilantes who take down Flock cameras

Americans have declared war on Flock cameras. They've protested them, damaged them, and destroyed them. This is only the beginning. The spontaneous and decentralized nature of the vigilante protests is also what makes them difficult to suppress. There isn't a uniform method of disruption; people have done everything from unplugging, smashing, stealing, and spray-painting the […]
