Show HN: Toolcraft – open-source AI harness and starter for building design apps

MIT-licensed, 100% free starter kit, UI library, and AI harness for building your own design apps. Works with Codex, Claude, Cursor, or any other agents. I’ve always been passionate about pushing the boundaries of design software, spending years with tools like Figma, Blender, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator. But some design tasks need different software — tailored exactly to your needs and creative vision. Apps that aren’t vendor-locked. Apps you can freely modify to make your workflo...

Ask HN: What if we funded math research like we fund AI labs?

The annual U.S. federal budget for basic math research is OpenAI alone just raised ~$122B, and frontier labs are increasingly concentrating enormous amounts of compute and human talent on open math problems. We seem to be entering a strange situation where a handful of private labs have vastly more resources for attacking these problems than the academics traditionally responsible for doing so. Have we had the capability all along, just not the hype? Please discuss :) Comments URL: https:/...

Ask HN: What will happen if AI is mature and people have little work to do?

Three years ago I asked the same question (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35327092), and the landscape has changed since then. Just say that even the most AI skepticism people will have to admit that with recent models, even open source ones, LLM is already a valuable intelligence resource, at least in the right hands. Of course we are nowhere near AGI yet, but no theorem can assert that AI will not be at least as good as human; neuro-networks can fit arbitrarily complex function. If human...

Show HN: SideNote Pro – Native Windows 11 AI beside your work

I have been using ChatGPT (mainly) as my main AI tool, but sometimes also DeepSeek and other AI providers. But with repetitive tasks, it became annoying for me to switch tabs and navigate to the ChatGPT tab in the web browser, leaving the Excel document and my focus behind just for a quick question, some text processing, or image identification. This is how I came up with the idea of having an assistant right beside the workspace that can be pinned and docked to the side of the display. On today...
