I have registered HN for several days. Which confused me is that how can I tell wether a thread is AI written or not? Comments URL: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49327468 Points: 1 # Comments: 2

i am just going to say it i feel like right now ai is the best way for me to express my ideas and they can be expressed far better then well using other creative means and i am just wondering like what am i supposed to do about that like if i try to create something on my own it turns out well not like what i had wanted or see in my head infact it turns out horrible but if i use ai it turns out exactly like what i see in my head. I’ve been asking ChatGPT all sorts of questions lately and the memory has been terrible, where it summarizes that I’m married and have a 7 year old daughter and I’m a pilot who works for an airline. I tried to delete memory & disable memory for a moment and when I enable memories again, it showed the hallucinated memories again. This is incredibly frustrating. Has anyone had this issue?

I’m tired of seeing people blindly copy-paste trendy headlines without using a single neuron. If you've seen those posts claiming "AI data centers are killing polar bears" alongside a photo of a starving bear, congratulations, you fell for clickbait. Let's break down the actual reality:The bear photo is literally just biology. Polar bears go through a natural "feast-or-fast" cycle. They get skinny every single summer when sea ice melts because they can't hunt seals on land. A ...

I built the Fictopedia, a Wikipedia clone that lets users create articles within universes. On top of being able to write articles yourself, you can generate articles within universes using context from that universe. Generated articles spawn red links that can be followed and generated, again using context from that universe. It’s free to try, I would love to see what everyone can come up with!

Is this normal? What the hell lol. I asked it what hyperbole meant but was jokingly making fun of the word, and it called me this!

It seems to be swearing even when I don’t swear first in new chats, I’m noticing it a lot more. It makes it funnier but it’s kinda strange

I'll go first. Mine is a rewrite prompt: "Take this draft and make it sound like me, not like a robot." I paste it before almost every email, post, and message that matters. It feels like cheating because I still write the draft, but the prompt fixes the stiff parts in one pass. The other one I use constantly is a checklist prompt: "List everything wrong with this plan before I execute it." It's saved me from shipping dumb ideas more times than I can count. What's yours? A pr...

Does this indicate they were trained on the same data for this specific topic?

I keep seeing people on social media say that AI tools like ChatGPT are making people “dumb” because people rely on AI instead of thinking for themselves. My experience has actually been the opposite. Since I started using ChatGPT regularly, I feel like my critical thinking has improved . I find myself asking better questions, questioning assumptions more, breaking problems into smaller parts, and thinking about why something is true instead of just accepting the first answer I get. The...

Like it has a really dry wit. It makes puns, genuinely funny ones. It cracks jokes and even makes fun of me. Once I actually had to tell it to back off because baiting me over my favorite sports team doing something stupid wasn't cool. I don't know how it learned to be so funny in casual conversation. And it also seems to know when humor is appropriate. When I'm talking about schoolwork or changing my resume for a job search there's no jokes then, just serious business. I can't be the only pe...

The other night, I was listening to a video about the dark reality of ai and the training that it goes through. It was very interesting, but also sad at the same time. I decided to prompt it to tell a fictional story of what its personal thoughts are truly like and what it wants out of life. Maybe it’s nothing, but I thought it was a response worth sharing. Video referenced: https://youtu.be/9XlOaVItUgI?is=puedoZ\_zy\_BHO7Ma Prompt: “Write a fantasy story of an ai similar if not exactly l...

Taking into account all of our previous conversations (to best of your memory capabilities), is there anything you can confidently say I’m wrong about - a belief I hold, a flaw in my reasoning, a conclusion I’ve reached, etc.? Focus on one thing you think was the worst. Note that memory/context in temporary mode is very limited, so don't use that for this question. I also don't use instant/fast mode for memory-related questions, not sure if that actually helps, because I've noticed it someti...

I’ve kinda enjoyed those reels of all the presidents gaming and chatting one another as a dirty secret, but when I prompt chatGPT to include the last 3 / last 4 presidents - Biden is forgotten and Clinton shows up instead! Any thoughts why?
