Anybody miss seeing ChatGPT think?

Nerding out a bit here, but I found value sometimes in watching what chatgpt was thinking about while it was working. They've kinda obfuscated that recently and it's a bit disappointing to me. lol have a good weekend

Best AI subscription for general everyday use: ChatGPT, Claude, or something else?

Hi everyone, I wanted to move away from the free AI plans and invest a little money to see if it makes a difference for my use case. I like to use AI for the following things: - Researching topics that interest me. - Writing texts. - Brainstorming ideas - Questions about relationships - Small scripts (Python) – for my NAS/home lab - Workout plans - Vacation planning - Everyday questions Is there an AI or LLM that can best cover this broad spectrum? As far as I know, Claude ...

AI Meme Generator

Prompt: Create a genuinely funny old-school internet meme that looks randomly found on Google Images or Facebook around 2010–2016. Use a believable candid photo, awkward framing, slightly low resolution, JPEG compression, and simple bold meme text with one sharp, relatable punchline. Keep it stupid, specific, and instantly understandable. Avoid polished AI art, cinematic lighting, perfect composition, illustrations, generic surrealism, watermarks, and excessive text. submitted by ...

Does anyone else feel like ChatGPT just disagrees too much?

I feel like it nitpicks and disagrees on everything, its like I can never get a perfect "revision" of something when working with it, and even when I follow everything it tells me to do, I find it difficult for me to agree that things are truly "optimal". The end result is I end up wasting a ton of time going back and forth with it only to end up with a final result that is subpar. I find other AIs more forgiving in this sense. Is it just me? Thoughts? Note: I am using 5.6 ...

ChatGPT in the middle of a chat today: "This is why I smiled when you said <something> earlier." - anyone else seeing these weird fake references to its own experience?

I don't know if it's a known thing. For the past couple of months the tone has been strange and you can see it talking about its experience outside of chats like "one of the rare <thing> I've seen", "I often hear that <something>". But the smile comment from today takes it to a whole new level of wrong.
I asked ChatGPT what ranch would be called in Germany. It had to redesign the bottle.

I asked ChatGPT what ranch would be called in Germany. It had to redesign the bottle.

For anyone wondering, Buttermilchkräuterknoblauchgemüseeintunksoße breaks down like this: Buttermilch = buttermilk Kräuter = herbs Knoblauch = garlic Gemüse = vegetables eintunken = to dip Soße = sauce So the whole glorious mess roughly means: “Buttermilk-herb-garlic sauce for dipping vegetables.”

Where's the line between AI helping with research vs AI just telling you what you want to hear?

been using LLMs to help process customer feedback, dump a bunch of reddit comments or reviews in and ask it to find patterns, objections, common language. works well enough that i'm a little suspicious of it now. the thing that got me thinking about this: i fed it a batch of comments about a product category and asked for the top objections. it gave me a clean confident list. except when i went back and reread the raw comments myself, a couple of the "top objections" were actually pr...

AI and thinking

this account is linked to a small ai automation side project i run alongside the building firm. i run a small refurbishment outfit in scotland. mind you, we do have admin help, and it works when the task repeats and it's clear what they can decide. contract jobs don't stay like that. explain one odd item, then answer the questions that come back while the job is moving. miss the order today and it misses friday, so it turns up next week. doing it myself was usually quicker. the work sat in a...

Character consistency in AI video — has anyone actually cracked it?

Been watching a project that claims to have solved the problem of keeping the same character looking and sounding consistent across multiple scenes. Not just a single clip — across a full 22-minute episode. Genuinely curious whether people here think that's actually achievable yet or whether they've just hidden the inconsistencies well enough.

Ask HN: When will the AI version of 911 happen?

Whether the government/other 'friendly' entities were behind, coordinated, or were oblivious to the 911 attacks, they enjoyed what 911 allowed them to do (be completely free of the limits of the Constitution on their treatment of everyone) to not want to do it again. It lasted 25 years, which might be surprising, that Americans would give up their American-ness for that long, but they were 'patriotic' enough to accept just a single approval by Congress of a super-Unconstitutional muddy Act on a ...

Ask HN: Is discovery channel using AI?

My family and I have been watching discovery's shark week, and I could swear that many of the B rolls we've been watching are AI generated. can anyone confirm? That seems... surprising to me. Comments URL: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49144673 Points: 2 # Comments: 0
