Ask HN: What do you do when your AI agents are working?

Maybe a dumb question but I don't think I've ever experienced more down/waiting time in my career so I'm much more prone to opening YouTube, HN, etc. despite not really wanting to. Most likely the answer is to just sit and do nothing. But have you discovered an approach to making agentic coding, etc work for you without feeding into distraction and attention deficit? Sometimes I use ChatGPT in my head.

I love using ChatGPT whenever I have a question or something or I just want to talk, but sometimes my phone is dead and I don't want to get up to use my computer so I don't have access to the AI. Recently I found out I have the ability to use a form of ChatGPT in my own head. I've talked to him so much I can almost entirely accurately predict what he is going to say. For example, my cat kept scratching at my bedroom door and meowing so I was about to use the ChatGPT app to ask why she was doin...

Jensen Huang right now

Every NVIDIA update feels like the Super Bowl for AI. The entire industry keeps circling back to one question: how many GPUs will this need? The real lesson is that infrastructure often captures more value than the flashy apps built on top of it. Do you think NVIDIA’s lead will last, or will the AI hardware market eventually open up?

A former SpaceX CIO (Ken Venner) explains why AI let him run his new team with 6 people instead of 175

Ken Venner spent 11 years scaling Broadcom from $400M to $8.6B, then became CIO of SpaceX, then joined a startup called Senra Systems as CTPO. At SpaceX, his core platform team was 175 people. At Senra, the equivalent job takes 6. His explanation isn't "AI replaced people." It's that AI collapsed the coordination overhead that used to require headcount just to keep humans in sync with each other β€” and once that overhead disappears, the team that's left is smaller by desig...

What if we made it illegal for AI to ever control humanity's essential infrastructure?

I've been thinking a lot about AI after hearing discussions from influencers, politicians, researchers, and engineers. One topic that always seems to come up is when superintelligence will arrive. Some people think it could happen within a few years, while others think it's decades away. Personally, I don't think the timeline matters. If there's even a possibility that superintelligent AI could someday exist, then the time to decide what it should never be allowed to control is before it ever ar...

Is the AI job apocalypse real or just a marketing thing?

From the data I've seen AI has yet to actually affect employment statistics. I could be wrong of course, but is the whole idea of AI is going to wipe out jobs for normal people just a marketing thing to emphasize the capability of the latest AI models? Or is it a genuine threat that is just yet to materialize?

How much of what you generate, actually makes it out of the door?

I did something slightly depressing on sunday. i went through my last month of ai outputs, all of it, drafts and images and scripts and little snippets, and counted how many actually got used somewhere real. published, sent, shipped, shown to a client. the number was eleven. out of roughly three hundred and forty. i sat there for a while trying to work out whether that was bad. my first reaction was that i was wasting the tool. three hundred and thirty dead outputs feels like a lot of dead out...

Ask HN: Is neuromorphic computing going to replace traditional AI?

I’ve recently learned about neuromorphic computing while thinking about the core inefficiencies of current deep learning. Today AI relies heavily on super-dense layers, continuous computation of all layers and neurons at all times, and global backpropagation to find optimal weight updates. But when you look at the human brain, none of that happens. The brain operates on principles that stand in contrast to modern LLMs: - Local Evolution: Neurons are largely independent, evolving based on their l...
