concern about how ai will change knowledge creation and democracy

well due to this resent changes of googles ai review, rise of chatbots and more the prime issue is that knowledge creation platforms which was web and artical internet so far as vedio internet is more in entertainment plus little education than education itself will lead to massive decline in knowledge creation and open sharing as there is revenu shrinking as this ai companies make money out of articles not creators. and what i think is eventually knowledge creation will come to an hault or stay...

AI makes me faster. And less myself...

Since ChatGPT came out I've been using LLMs every day for work. And I've slowly become a worse thinker. Not in the sense that I work less. In the sense that I reason less. Some decisions don't feel like mine anymore... I got there, but I didn't really work through them. Sometimes I catch myself not pushing back on the AI output even when something is off. Turns out there's a name for this: Cognitive Offloading . It's not inherently bad: we've always offloaded cognitive tasks to external too...

My AI tools kept forgetting everything, so I gave them a shared brain (local + open source)

Hi there! this is my first small rant that turned into a project: every AI tool I use has its own memory. I tell Claude Desktop something, Cursor has no clue. New chat? Back to zero. It drove me nuts β€” so I built Centralaizer . This is an open source solution, so it's free with MIT license. It's a little memory hub that runs on your own machine . Any MCP tool (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code Copilot…) plugs into it and they all share the same memory. Save a fact or a decision in...

Making slides

I know university professors are strict about AI and use AI detector when it’s essay writing, but what about powerpoint slides? Are there any ways for them to detect AI-made slides? What about videos?

Ask HN: Should AI be used at all as a total beginner?

I aspire to be a game developer or hardware engineer. Life has been rocky because of my undiagnosed ADHD (currently in the process of getting a treatment for it) and trying to get my highschool diploma but now I wish to start my journey into making games or tinkering with hardware. A problem keeps nagging at the back of my mind though.. Should AI be used at the beginning stages of learning programming? I try to remain neutral in most cases when I don't know something concretely but the more I...

Most of this "AI marketing" drama is just prompting with better packaging. And it's a shame.

Look, I get it. Marketing is exhausting. Ten hours building a feature feels productive. Ten hours "marketing" it feels like screaming into a void. That frustration is real and valid. But here's the thing β€” a lot of these tools being sold to you right now are not solving that problem. They're just monetizing your confusion about it. "Understands your brand" = you gave it a paragraph about your product. "Writes like you" = you fed it a few examples. "Finds re...

the US just made frontier ai a controlled export, like nvidia chips

the us government just told Anthropic to cut off its two most powerful models from every foreign national on earth, inside or outside america. Anthropic couldn't cleanly separate foreigners from americans, so it pulled fable 5 and mythos 5 for everyone. So this week anthropic shipped fable 5 and mythos 5, both built on the same base. mythos is the heavy one. it's so good at finding software security holes that anthropic kept it locked to a small set of trusted partners. that cyber skill is exa...

Show HN: Isitslop.xyz, a free AI-writing detector built on latest research

I have a weird habit of guessing whether something's AI before I check, especially on LinkedIn and Reddit (for obvious reasons). The detectors I used to confirm were mostly junk and built to sell you a "humanizer" upsell, so I went and read the actual research on what gives AI text away in 2026, then built my own (no login and free) The main sources I used are these: https://arxiv.org/abs/2406.07016 https://arxiv.org/abs/2403.07183 https://aclanthology.org/2025.coling-main.426/ https://ar...
