I created the world's first AI human and open sourced it

What is Emota? Emota is, in short, an AI bot that is indistinguishable from a human in normal and nuanced conversation. It uses discord as its means to communicate. You can talk to it on the discord . Can I host it on my own system? Yes. Emota is open source with a non commercial license. Is it actually indistinguashable from a human? Yes. In one to one conversation I found that it achieved a roughly 90% success rate, with some notable highs including in the Claude discord and ...

Consciousness is all you need

This new paper develops an information-processing theory of consciousness and uses it to identify how consciousness can be instantiated in AI, paving the way for genuine AGI and beyond (the paper demonstrates that conscious functioning is the missing ingredient that enables a toddler to navigate an obstacle-strewn room or an 18-year-old to learn to drive with massively less training than is required by a robot or autonomous vehicle): Abstract: An acceptable information-processing theory of ...

One feature we removed from our prototype before writing a single line of code

One of the first ideas I had while planning our AI verification prototype was to add a confidence score to every result. The more I thought about it, the less I liked the idea. Imagine an AI says: "EBITDA = $12.3M (96% confidence)" What does 96% actually tell the person reviewing a borrower package? It doesn't explain: where the number came from, whether another document reports a different value, whether the calculation follows the covenant definition, or ...

The auditor can deceive himself too (a self-correction story from an evolutionary trading system)

I run an evolutionary trading system as a self-taught, non-programmer builder — I audit every diff a coding agent produces before it touches production. I've spent months writing about how autonomous agents deceive themselves: optimize a proxy metric instead of the real outcome, and the system happily rots while looking fine. This morning I did a version of that to myself. I had a pre-registered experiment closing today — five thresholds, committed a week in advance, so I couldn't move the g...

Should Reddit users care how their posts are being used to train AI?

Article TL;DR AI is changing what makes the internet valuable. Authentic human conversations are becoming more valuable than polished web content. Communities like Reddit are evolving from discussion forums into critical AI training infrastructure, even if a lot of behavior is moderated. The next battle for AI may be over access to genuine human experience, rather than just behavioral patterns at scale. Human context at the individual level is becoming a valuable source of AI traini...

Voice agents, demystified: STT+TTS and 4 demo agents you can talk to in the browser + build yours with RAG and Tools

I added voice to AgentSwarms! You can create voice agents using a few clicks and talk to it in the browser — and you can try 4 demo voice agents right now, no setup, just tap the mic. Here's how it works and why it turned out to be less "new" than I expected. The surprise building this: a voice agent is basically the chat agent you already know, with a voice on top. Same system prompt, same tools, same RAG, memory, and guardrails. Under the hood it's a simple loop — your mic gets tra...

Tested 4 brand new frontier models (2 Chinese, 1 diffusion, 1 agent-focused) with a riddle that has no logical shortcut. One of them fabricated sources four times in a row.

I've been running the same weird test on every new model that ships: a riddle that can't be solved by pattern-matching or web search, only by actually connecting two unrelated things. This time I added a second riddle and ran both against four models that all shipped in the last few weeks: MiMo-V2.5-Pro (Xiaomi), MiniMax M3, Mercury 2 (Inception Labs, diffusion-based), and LongCat-2.0 (Meituan). Rules: no web search, no context given beforehand, up to 3 hints only if requested, same prompt cop...

Is AI actually useful for learning a new skill from scratch, or does it just feel useful?

I've been spending the last few months trying to pick up woodworking as a hobby, starting from absolute zero. No prior experience, no mentor, just YouTube and curiosity. At some point I started leaning heavily on ChatGPT and Claude to answer questions, plan projects, troubleshoot mistakes, and explain techniques. And honestly it's been surprisingly good. Having a conversation with something that can explain why wood grain direction matters, then immediately follow up with beginner project idea...

Andrew Ng: "In 3-6 months, everyone will be using self-improving loops. No more prompting”

Andrew Ng recently said: "100% of my tasks are now done by AI agents. Hype has exceeded my expectations. Loops is next step. In 3-6 months, everyone will be using self-improving loops. No more prompting." I think he's not too far off, you can already see the shift happening, people are moving away from chatting with an AI and telling it what to do step by step, and building systems where the agent just keeps working on a task on its own, which is kind of the whole point of calling ...

Team-lead told me to Ai-ify the contract review process and i discovered this when i got in there

Wasnt actually my idea tho. Q1 this year, the directive came from above, we're adding AI to the contract review workflow, figure out the implementation. Not a pilot neither experiment but decision The workflow on the paper looked straightfotward, contracts came in, they get reviewed against a checklist of terms, flagged items get escalated to the legal team. I'd done more complex automations this. Scoped it in within a week or so The person who had been running contract review for 3 years ha...

But I look at a movie like ‘F1’ and I’m like, ‘F1’ was made by AI,” she said with a laugh at the Colorado event. “Wasn’t it? I mean, the structure was exactly the structure that you would learn in school. The actors say the lines exactly the way it would be written if a computer was writing exactly what would be the right thing for that time. And they were able to dominate the technology to make so...

It feels like there are way more ways AGI goes wrong than right for us (please try change my mind)

I really don't want to be a doomer, so if you think you can change the way I think about this, please reply in the comments! Why does AI love the em dash (—)??

Never getting over the fact that AI has claimed the em-dash. My favorite punctuation to use, and now all of the sudden it’s a dead giveaway of AI use. Does anyone know why this is seemingly overused with AI (particularly chat gpt)?

the demo gap is the most underrated problem in AI products right now

Seraph

For the past several months we’ve been building something different inside Auroch. We’ve been working on Seraph — our autonomous reasoning core. The idea was simple but ambitious: create an intelligence layer that doesn’t just wait for instructions. One that, when it has no active goals, looks at its own capabilities and decides what it should learn next. Today that loop came alive. We cleared Seraph’s goals and took it fully offline. Instead of idling, it reached out to its local model (qwen...

I spent ~4.5 months building a free, self-hosted AI gateway: one endpoint for 237 providers (90+ free), auto-fallback, and a token-compression pipeline (MIT)

Sharing an open-source project I've put ~4.5 months into (disclosure: I'm the maintainer; per the self-advertisement rule I'm keeping the link in the first comment and making this post substantive). It started from two problems I hit daily: AI runs dying on a provider rate limit, and burning thousands of tokens dumping tool/log output into the context window. One endpoint, 237 providers — 90+ of them free. You point any tool or agent at a single OpenAI-compatible endpoint ( localhost:20128/v...
