I built an app as an experiment with Codex's design capabilities. The app is called NameSnap Picker. It helps teachers, streamers, coaches, parties, and other groups choose a name fairly without turning the process into a miniature administrative hearing. You can paste a list of names, use a fast Quick Pick, spin a wheel, avoid repeats, and keep a visible history of winners. The current native build supports iPhone and iPad, and the winner moment can appear in 300 different celebration com...

So, I have been asking myself this question for quite a while, Can AI actually remember what it sees? and tell a user later that "I saw X at place Y last", or for instance when a person goes to a cafe and forgets something. e.g let's say they actually forgot their charger. The system should be able to say, "Hey, I think you came here with a charger and now you are leaving without one, or you forgot your charger". I think that will be really helpful, and it can also help a person when it obser...

A regex quantifier like * or + means "the preceding element can repeat any number of times," but how much it actually matches depends on whether the engine tries to match as much as possible or as little as possible. That's the greedy vs. non-greedy distinction, and adding a single ? to a quantifier can produce a completely different result. This post works through that distinction using real parsing code from this app's WP-CLI output handling. Quantifiers Are Greedy by Defau...

Reachy PizzAIolo: When a Restaurant Sign Starts a Conversation Building an AI-powered conversational restaurant ordering experience with Reachy Mini and Seeed Studio's reTerminal E1003. What if a restaurant sign didn't just display the menu? What if it could talk to you, understand what you wanted, help you make a choice, update your order as you spoke - and show everything visually at the same time? That is the idea behind Reachy PizzAIolo . It combines the personali...

Originally published on the Merlonix blog . A DNS blocklist (DNSBL, sometimes RBL) is a published list of IP addresses a provider has flagged as a source of spam. Mail servers consult these lists in real time: if the IP that just connected is listed, the message is usually rejected outright or filed to spam. A single listing on a widely-consulted list — Spamhaus, SpamCop, Barracuda, UCEPROTECT — can quietly kill a large share of your mail, including the transactional kind you can least affo...

I wanted to disagree with 'AI made me a worse reviewer' from Michael Amachree ( @dev_michael ) . Instead I counted 204 of my own guards — and 89 % of them have never been asked to prove they can fail. Michael wrote something that I couldn't put down: AI didn't make me a worse coder, it made me a worse reviewer. Here is the number, and it's worse than his thesis: of the 204 automated checks in my repositories that draw a conclusion, only 22 can prove they are able to fail. That's 11 %. The ot...

Originally published on the Merlonix blog . A broken-link checker does one well-defined thing: it walks the <a href> links on a page, fetches each target, and flags the ones that come back wrong — a 4xx , a 5xx , a timeout, a connection that never opens. That answers a real question: which links point at something that isn't there. Run a clean scan and you get a green report and a reasonable feeling that the page is healthy. But "every link resolves" and "this page works in a...

Part 1 covered the messaging services. Part 2 covered orchestration. Part 3 covered how the whole pipeline gets secured. None of that matters if something breaks at 2am and there's no way to find out why. This part covers the actual toolkit for debugging and monitoring a real Azure integration pipeline, and deliberately ties every tool back to the specific services already built across Parts 1 through 3, the same pattern the whole series has followed. Topic 1: Application Insi...

By the time I wrote this, twenty numbered attempts at one Phebs scale gate had been consumed. None had established the full claim. That does not mean I ran the same experiment twenty times. Some attempts stopped during plan review or preflight. Some ran for hours. Some produced a signed, source-free receipt; others found that the evidence pipeline itself could not make a trustworthy record, so they sealed nothing and retired the identifier. Take 18 completed the two-million-file structural...

Most transcription APIs still force you to do this: Download the YouTube video Extract the audio with yt-dlp + ffmpeg Upload the file Call the transcription endpoint Call a separate translation API Map generic speaker labels ("Speaker 0") to real names Generate SRT files yourself That’s a lot of moving parts for something that should be simple. The DaDaScribe API collapses most of that into a single request. You send a YouTube URL (or a direct audio/video link), speci...
