Developer looking for a startup , I will not promote
I've been trying to join early-stage startups, but I've had very little luck so far. I've looked on Wellfound, LinkedIn, YC jobs, and a few other job boards. I've also tried reaching out to founders by email and Discord, but most either aren't hiring yet or never reply. I have 4+ years of experience working with React, Next.js, Node.js, and React Native. If you've successfully joined an early-stage startup, how did you find the opportunity? Are there any communities, websites, Disco...

Is running your own business the easiest way to skip the job hunt later? (I will not promote)
Hey y’all, correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like running your own business makes it way easier to get a job later, if you ever needed to. I’m currently running my own consulting company, and I’m literally having 1:1 meetings with founders, CEOs, VPs, COOs, and so on. If I had to close down my business tomorrow, I feel like I could easily reach out to them, bypass HR, and ask directly for a position. Am I wrong? any real world experience on this?

What are you writing on LinkedIn while you are still employed, but already started a startup (i will not promote)
Hi, I live in the US and have a decent job as a software engineer, that is covering my current expenses. The friend of mine, who lives abroad built a company and has sales and I see that there is a potential to actualy grow the company in multi-million business. I joined him to raise money and one of the US based accelerators already picked us up. In my understanding for me to be able to get the income similar to what I make at the moment, while working as a CEO of my own startup, I need to r...

An Amazon data center could have the worst polluting power plant in the country
To power its new West Texas data center, Amazon is investing in the construction of a new power plant that could be one of the largest single producers of greenhouse gases in the US, according to the New York Times. The new gas-burning plant in Pecos County, Texas has received significant investment from Amazon and, […]

Your companies table is lying to you about when things happened
Every company dataset I have worked with stores history as scalar columns:
founded_year INT
ceo_name TEXT
headquarters TEXT
revenue BIGINT
Every one of those is a point-in-time fact pretending to be a permanent one. The moment you need to answer "who was in charge when this happened", the schema has already thrown the answer away.
The failure is invisible until you query across time
Take Intel. Founded 18 July 1968 by Gordon Moor...

I shipped a fix. The system recovered. The fix wasn't why.
An autonomous system of mine lost access to its execution environment and went into a crash loop. I read the logs, formed a theory, wrote a commit, deployed it. It came back up. I closed the incident and moved on.
A few days later I checked it properly, because not taking a system's word for itself is the work I do — and that has to include when the system is mine.
Here is what the check looked like.
The claim: a code change restored the system's access to its execution environment.

Need help to test Dragonfly
Dragonfly a VS Code extension I’m building to test REST APIs without leaving the editor.
Currently it supports:
Importing Next.js API routes
Syncing routes with the codebase
Importing cURL
POST, PUT and PATCH body generation
Environments and common headers
If you have some time, give it a try and let me know what you think or if you find any bugs.

A Feature in My AI Agent System Went Unused for 40 Days
I had a feature in my AI agent system that looked complete.
The design document existed. The code worked in isolation. The usage instructions were written. I had already moved it into the “done” column.
Then I checked the execution history.
The feature had not activated once in 40 days.
It was not broken. The runtime simply never chose it.
The 40-day period comes from my own development log. It is not an industry benchmark or a general claim about AI agents. But it exposed a mista...

I Built an AI Coding Tutor That Refuses to Give You the Answer
I had a problem with AI coding assistants.
They were too helpful .
Ask for a hint on a coding problem, and five seconds later you have the approach, the optimized solution, and half the reason you opened the problem in the first place.
I wanted something that would help me think without doing the thinking for me.
So I built Think Before Code .
The idea is simple: instead of racing to the answer, the AI asks what you’ve tried, challenges your reasoning, and gives the smallest use...

We built a free collaborative LaTeX editor. Here's the part that was actually hard.
The deadline was nine hours out.
My co-author was in another timezone, editing the same main.tex I had open. We were passing the file back and forth over a shared drive like it was 2020. At some point we both hit save. A results section disappeared, and neither of us could say with confidence which copy was the real one.
That night didn't make me want to start a company. It made me want to throw my laptop in a river.
It's also why we built LetX — a free, real-time collaborative LaTeX ed...

131 Tests, 4 Layers, $00.03/Run: Why I Built My AI Agent Eval Harness First
Originally published on AIdeazz — cross-posted here with canonical link.
I shipped a silent failure. My first production AI agent, a simple lead qualification bot for WhatsApp, passed all 27 unit tests. It handled happy paths, edge cases, even adversarial inputs designed to break prompt safety. The agent went live. Two days later, a client forwarded a screenshot: the bot had hallucinated a 15% discount on a product that didn't exist. Revenue impact: $0. But trust impact: significant. The r...

Codeberg banning AI code is not a cult. It's a boundary.
YouTuber Theo, founder of T3, gave thousands to Codeberg. He saw them vote in AI restrictions and called it "spite-driven" and a "cult."
He is mistaken. It wasn't about purity, it was about setting a boundary.
What actually happened
Codeberg e.V. is a non-profit Git forge located in Berlin. You can see it as a European version of GitHub, however, it is operated based on a democratic membership structure.
That is an important point. Members do not receive policies in a top-d...

Media Elements - HTML
What is Media Elements?
Modern websites are more than just text and images. Videos, audio clips, podcasts, animations, and other multimedia content can make a website more engaging and useful. HTML provides several built-in media elements that allow developers to add audio and video directly to web pages without relying entirely on third-party plugins.
The HTML audio Element
The audio element is used to add sound or audio files to a webpage. The controls attribute displays controls t...

How to monitor third-party provider outages with two signals
When production starts failing, one of the first questions is also one of the most expensive to answer badly:
Is our application broken, or is a provider we depend on having an incident?
If the dependency is AWS, Cloudflare, GitHub, OpenAI, Stripe, or another cloud or SaaS vendor, there are two common approaches:
Read the provider's official status page.
Probe the service yourself.
Neither is enough on its own. A useful monitoring setup treats them as separate signals.
I...

Microsoft’s Skill-Recorder Raises Questions on Automation Reliability
Microsoft's new Skill-Recorder application has surfaced as a way to streamline developers' workflows by capturing on-screen activities and reconstructing them into reusable automation scripts. The tool, which uses the GitHub Copilot CLI, aims to help users create skills for Microsoft Scout, Copilot Cowork, or Copilot Studio. With over 2,500 stars on GitHub, it clearly has garnered interest. Yet, as promising as this sounds, it also leads to significant questions about reliability, the potential ...

From Raw Signals to BlocSignal: Taming Reactivity for Enterprise Scale
By Randal L. Schwartz & the BlocSignal Team
🌟 Introduction: The Modern State Management Dilemma
State management in Flutter and Dart has arrived at an intriguing crossroads.
In a previous article, Why ValueNotifier Fails at Scale: The Non-Composability Problem (and How Signals Fix It) , we explored how moving from Flutter's built-in ValueNotifier / ChangeNotifier to Signal-based reactive primitives ( signal() , computed() , effect() ) solves the non-composabil...
