Show HN: Minigraf – An embedded, bi-temporal graph database in Rust

A successor project to my previous attempt at building a temporal graph database ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23455516 ). This one builds on its predecessor's concept, but drops the dependency on another database to provide the storage, transaction and query engines. Minigraf is self-contained, packaged as a library crate, embeds into your application, and supports full bi-temporality. Tell HN: Uceprotect is extorting website owners

I recently discovered by accident that our website was being blocked by Orange's security filters. After a quick check, I found that our IP address is listed on UCEPROTECT Level 3. The listing is based on the reputation of the entire ASN 14061 (DigitalOcean, US) [1]. In other words, even if your IP did nothing wrong, it will still be listed because of its ASN. If your site is innocent and listed only because it's hosted on DigitalOcean, UCEPROTECT offers to whitelist it for about $30/month or $1...

Our minds aren’t equipped to handle AI

Norbert Wiener, godfather of cybernetics, once said, "The thought of every age is reflected in its technique." For the past century, our thought has been reflected in our computers, including by those in the AI industry. Google's Demis Hassabis calls the brain "a biological approximation to a Turing machine." Elon Musk puts it more bluntly, […]

Google admits not every Android app runs great on Intel Googlebooks

Google has waited until the day its new Googlebook laptops hit the market to admit that Intel-based models may have issues running some Android apps. Before now, Google has emphasized that the Android-based Googlebooks give owners access to the "entire Play Store library" of apps, along with some clever interactions with Android phones and tablets. […]

Structured Log Correlation Without Trace Context Propagation: The Hidden Gap in Go Microservice Observability

The Problem Nobody Talks About Most observability stacks are designed assuming trace context propagates cleanly end-to-end. In practice, it often doesn't. A background goroutine fires without inheriting the parent context. A queue consumer reconstructs a request from raw bytes with no W3C traceparent header. A third-party SDK calls your callback with a fresh context.Background() . A timeout kills a span mid-flight and the child trace is orphaned. In these gaps, structured logs are your...

An n8n AI Agent That Pays Invoices Only Inside Rules You Set

Short answer: in n8n, you don't give the AI Agent node a spending limit in its prompt. You attach an MCP Client Tool node pointed at a payments server that enforces the limit itself, so the workflow's "pay this invoice" step always resolves to one of three states it didn't decide on its own: allowed, waiting on a person, or blocked. Pink Agentic AI Payments checks each payment an agent requests against per-agent budgets and rules before it executes, and routes the rest to a human. That is wha...

I forked a live AI agent three ways, and every copy came up with its web server already running

The expensive part of working with a coding agent is rarely the last step. It is all the steps before it: the exploring, the false starts, the files it wrote and rewrote until the thing finally worked. Once an agent has got somewhere good, the state it is in is worth more than any individual output, and the uncomfortable truth is that you usually cannot get back to it. Run the same prompt again and you get something else. DigitalOcean's Managed Agents runs each session in its own microVM and ...

How I moved my Pokémon card scanner from a server onto the phone

I build Pooka, a Pokémon card collection app for iOS, Android and web. Until version 2.0, scanning a card meant uploading a photo: the server turned it into a CLIP embedding and ran a vector search over every card image. It worked, but every scan waited on the network and cost server time. For 2.0 the whole pipeline runs on the phone, in Flutter. This is what that took, including the parts that went wrong. The pipeline A corner detector finds every card in the camera frame...

Why an Android APK May Not Install: 7 Common Causes and Practical Fixes

Installing an APK on Android sounds simple: download the file, open it, and follow the installation instructions. But sometimes Android refuses to install an app, and the reason is not immediately obvious. An APK installation can fail because of an incompatible Android version, limited storage, a corrupted download, security restrictions, an existing version of the app, or device architecture differences. In some cases, the problem is with the APK package itself. The good news is that most...

I built an open-source, end-to-end encrypted messaging web app using Supabase and WebRTC 🔐

Hi everyone! My co-maker and I wanted to build a completely private messaging app that works instantly in the browser without any app store downloads. We just went live with the first version of Ripple Chat ! We built this fully as a Progressive Web App (PWA) so you can install it straight to your phone's home screen like a real app. 🚀 Key Features True Zero-Knowledge Privacy: Client-side encryption using ECDH P-256 + AES-GCM. Your private keys never leave your brows...

Jev vs LLM: How They Actually Work Differently

Most developers reach for an LLM for almost everything: classification, routing, scoring, decision making. It works. But it is often the wrong tool. In September 2026, TypeSafe AI released Jev , a model built only for decisions. It does not generate text. It only decides. Here is the real difference. LLM: reads the prompt, writes the answer one token at a time, and leaves you to parse the text. Jev: reads the state once, answers every question in a single parallel pa...

Designing an EHR Integration Layer for a Telehealth Platform

When developers hear “EHR integration,” the first thought is usually an API. But a production telehealth platform needs more than an API client. It needs an integration layer that can handle authentication, mapping, retries, errors, synchronization and external-system failures. A simplified architecture looks like: Patient App | v Telehealth API | v Integration Layer | +------> EHR | +------> Lab | +------> Pharmacy ...

Unity Character Controller Tutorial: Create Smooth Player Movement with C#

Your character can move. Great! But what happens when it reaches a wall? What about gravity, slopes, or jumping? If you're building a 3D Unity game, simply changing the player's Transform isn't always enough. For a more reliable character controller, Unity provides the CharacterController component. In this beginner-friendly tutorial, we'll use CharacterController to create a simple player controller with movement, collision detection, gravity, and jumping . What Is Cha...

Agent security has two failure modes: miss the attack, or break the work.

A guardrail that blocks everything is safe. It is also useless. So we benchmarked both sides of AI agent security: Can you stop dangerous tool calls without breaking legitimate work? We ran: 1,652 harmful tool calls across 15 attack families. 24,911 benign tool calls from real agent sessions and public repositories. Against SolonGate, Claude Code permissions, Invariant, llm-guard, and the allowlists / denylists teams usually build themselves. The result for SolonGate: 73.7% of harmf...
