Loom: SaaS or something you’d rather own?

For teams using Loom or similar tools, has per user pricing, rising costs, vendor lock in or data control ever become a real pain? If you could have your own private video-sharing infrastructure, hosted on infrastructure you control, would that be useful or would the setup and maintenance outweigh the benefits? Curious to hear what people actually think.

Tips on reddit marketing?

I have been trying to crack reddit marketing for a few months now. I hate the reddit marketing tools online that send mass replies to so many random users without any goal or proper interaction. I even created a copywriting tool (a chrome extension) to help me write draft replies, comments etc based on my goals and I edit, choose and send people manually to start a conversation. I want to know how you guys approach reddit marketing? I will try to incorporate that in my extension. My main a...

Roast this startup idea before I waste another 6 months on it

the idea: companies spend money getting people onto their website. most visitors don't convert. ClientX tries to turn those visitors into conversations automatically. that's it. no “10 AI agents”. no 47-step CRM. no replacing your entire sales team. website visitor → conversation → sales pipeline. we're specifically looking at companies already running paid ads because the ROI is easier to understand. if they're spending $20k on traffic and we can recover even a small amount of...

Pre launch checklist for anything you vibe coded, 11 things, takes about 20 minutes

Wrote this after looking at a lot of agent-built apps that were one bad afternoon away from a serious problem. None of it is hard, it is just that nobody tells you to check. Change an id in a url and see if you can read someone else's data.this is the big one. Login working is not the same as permission working. Search your client side bundle for anything that looks like a key or a secret. hit your own api in a loop and see if anything stops you. Check whether your main list vie...

Almost quit my SaaS after 3 years without sales, now we do 500 last week.

I remember when I got my first Stripe payment, it was 47 euros. I feels unreal. Then I didn't sell for months. Before that I've build for 3 years. Yeah it was before chatgpt. Got into depression after this one sales. I just sold to 1 company then nothing. But, now we did 550 euros in a week. That's cheesy but the never give up advice is the realest.

best platform for managing customer insights scattered across calls, tickets and slack?

Support has tickets, sales has call recordings, and product has a Slack channel where everything gets buried, so we tried a spreadsheet to pull it together, but it lasted only a couple weeks before everyone stopped updating it. We're on buildbetter now, which pulls calls and tickets into one feed and auto-tags recurring themes, so the monthly review works, though not sure we're getting the most out of it yet. Dovetail came up a lot but felt purpose-built for research teams running proper stu...

Most SaaS onboarding is built for the company, not the user

I keep seeing onboarding flows that basically go: Sign up → tell us your role → company size → what do you want to achieve? → invite your team → connect an integration → pick a template → maybe finally use the product And I think we’ve normalized something backwards. The company is getting value before the user is. We get segmentation data. We get their use case. We get an invited teammate. We get an integration connected. Meanwhile the user still hasn’t had a reason to car...

I just made the first money I've ever made online with my SaaS and I might be the most excited person in the world right now.

So I have a product called Hawser that I've been building since March and I felt for so long like I might just be wasting my life away working on this thing. Somebody actually paid and this is the craziest feeling and most insanely rewarding feeling I felt in so long. I feel like I've finally done something right and good and now I can continue working on this because I kind of felt sad because I didn't know when this would start paying off but apparently it has started paying off!!!!!!!!! &...

How do you handle database hosting for client apps sold on a one-time fee (outgrowing Supabase free tier)?

Hey everyone, I'm a student developer who has been doing this for a while now. Last year, I've built and deployed custom web applications for 4 different small/medium-sized business clients, ranging from a POS and internal management systems to a photo studio tracking app with google drive integration. The situation is that I only bill clients for a one-time project deployment and have no recurring revenue streams, only factoring in maintenance if a client requests any monthly backend update...

What is the best SaaS launch/product video you have seen?

I have been studying a lot of SaaS launch & product videos recently & I’m curious what actually stands out to founders. There are plenty of beautifully animated videos out there, but I do not think great motion design automatically makes a great product video. I am also sharing some of my motion designs videos here too. The ones I remember usually do a few things really well: They explain the product quickly without overwhelming you The UI is actually easy to follow The ani...

Dropped out of college to build a SaaS and completely underestimated how hard it would be

I'm a 20 year old college dropout. While I was in school I felt completely drained, lost in life, and had no idea what direction I was heading. But I've always had a sense of creativity and a drive to build something of my own. I started watching YouTube videos of young entrepreneurs dropping out of school and building million dollar companies. I also started following people on social media making entrepreneurship look effortless. I decided to drop out of school and start building a SaaS prod...

I built Instalaz and I’m looking for some honest feedback I’ve been working on Instalaz because managing multiple social accounts and a lot of posts gets messy pretty quickly. Built a tool for outreach with your face rather than generic chunks of text

I got tired of outbound being the same AI generated text over and over again. So I built a tool where you record yourself once, and for every prospect it generates completely new personalized script and a new video of you delivering it . Not just lip-syncing a template or changing a few words. The entire message is regenerated based on the person and company, and the final video is designed to look indistinguishable from one you actually sat down and recorded yourself. It researches the p...

Built shop management software for auto repair shops. What am I getting wrong about the market?

I've spent the last year building MyAutoShopPro, a shop management app for independent auto repair shops. It handles the stuff that usually lives across a whiteboard, a text thread, and QuickBooks: repair orders and estimates, digital vehicle inspections the customer approves from their phone, parts ordering and purchase orders, scheduling, customer texting, card payments including in shop readers (stripe/square), and a website for the shop. The incumbents are Shopmonkey and Tekmetric, and t...
